Juny shares her insights and experiences as she teams up with Ryan Wang to educate young athletes about the importance of injury prevention and sustainable training practices. She also actively encourages her peers to support similar initiatives. Through her leadership, Juny is raising awareness about sports safety and injury prevention among students and friends from South Korea, honoring her parents’ heritage while fostering a deeper understanding of athletic health in the region.

Juny is a student at Torrey Pines High School in San Diego and a nationally ranked five-star tennis player, currently among the top 50 in the U.S. Her strong commitment to the sport is matched by her dedication to injury prevention, which has helped her maintain a healthy and sustainable playing career.

Sheryl Chen, President of New Jersey The Pingry School Student Chapter
Sheryl Chen is a 3-star tennis player and a current student at Pingry High School. Pingry has about 1200 students and over 35 sports teams. Sheryl is the captain of the girls varsity tennis team, which is ranked #1 in New Jersey. She is an advocate for injury prevention within the Pingry community and the local area.

Kotaro Kunimoto, President of the Japan Student Chapter. Kotaro is a dedicated student-athlete and 5-star rated tennis player with a strong interest in sports medicine and injury prevention. After suffering a back injury, he became passionate about promoting athlete safety and raising awareness about the importance of proper training, recovery, and long-term health in sports. Through his experience, he hopes to help other athletes avoid preventable injuries and continue pursuing the sports they love safely.

Thea Latak, President of the Illinois Student Chapter.
Thea is a former No. 1 ranked junior who has competed at the national and international levels. Her achievements include one ITF singles title, two ITF doubles titles, and an additional ITF doubles final appearance. She is also a former Easter Bowl champion and the recipient of one USTA Gold Ball and three Silver Balls. Having experienced tennis-related injuries firsthand, Thea is a strong advocate for injury prevention and actively promotes injury prevention initiatives through the Illinois Student Chapter.

Teddy also played soccer with the Oregon Valley Futbol Alliance for seven years, serving as team captain and helping lead his team to multiple state-level championships. After witnessing injuries on the field, he now leads injury prevention initiatives for his soccer team.

As a competitive swimmer, Teddy has faced multiple safety challenges, including repeated poison oak exposure and experiencing eye and skin irritation from high chlorine levels in pool water. In addition, his team has trained in an outdoor pool during winter due to an indoor facility closure, raising safety concerns in the Northwest. These experiences have strengthened Teddy’s commitment to youth sports safety and inspired him to lead injury prevention initiatives.

Teddy Di, President of Oregon Student Chapter
Theodore (Teddy) Di is a freshman at Crescent Valley High School in Corvallis, Oregon. He has been a competitive swimmer with the Corvallis Aquatic Team for four years, ranking among the top five swimmers in Oregon in 2024 and qualifying for regional and sectional competitions. As a high school class president, Teddy hopes to use his passion for athletics to continue serving and supporting his school and broader community.

SafeStrongSport Shang Hai Student Chapter hosted an injury prevention and fitness training clinic

Oskar Rouse, President of the Peru Student Chapter, is a senior at University City High School in San Diego and a nationally ranked top-180 Boys’ 18 tennis player. Proud of his English and Peruvian heritage, Oskar is deeply committed to injury prevention. Through years of high-level training, he has developed effective warm-up, recovery, and conditioning routines that help athletes stay healthy and consistent during demanding seasons. He actively shares these injury prevention strategies with younger players to help them avoid overuse injuries and stay strong in competitive tennis.

The SafeStrongSport Yunnan Student Chapter conducted an injury prevention stretching workshop.

Tina is the President of the SafeStrongSport Yunnan International School Student Chapter. A dedicated golf player with close ties to Yunnan golf clubs, she applies yoga, stretching, and breathing techniques to promote youth sports injury prevention.

Ian Sweeney, President of Indonesia Sekolah Pelita Harapan High School Student Chapter
Ian is a student at San Diego Virtual School, has been passionate about tennis since the age of five and is currently ranked among the top 150 players nationally. His commitment to the sport is matched by his dedication to injury prevention, which has allowed him to maintain a strong and healthy playing career.

Ryan Wang received Excellent Student poster award at American Association For the Advancement of Science Pacific Division Conference. Out of 130+ undergraduate students, Ryan was the only high schooler got poster competition award for Excellence.
