Evalyn (Eva) Ferguson, President of the Denmark Student Chapter Eva is an 8th-grade student at Pacific Trails Middle School. She has been a competitive swimmer with Rancho San Dieguito in California for over seven years, training with the team’s top group. Eva has qualified for and competed in numerous sectional and zone-level swimming events across the country. In addition to swimming, she has participated competitively in figure skating, tennis, dance, and golf. Throughout her athletic career, Eva has faced and overcome many challenges related to sports injuries and safety. She has experienced injuries from sports equipment as well as skin, hair, eye, and physical issues caused by chemical exposure and extreme training environments. Practicing in intense heat and cold, as well as in chlorine and saltwater, has given her firsthand insight into the physical risks young athletes face and the importance of injury prevention, proper protection, and heightened safety awareness in sports. As a dedicated athlete and leader, and in honor of her father’s Danish heritage, Eva is committed to promoting sports injury prevention and safety education among youth athletes. Through her role at the Denmark Student Chapter, she aims to raise awareness and encourage safer training practices for students and friends in Denmark, helping young athletes participate in sports more safely, confidently, and sustainably.

Mohammad Mehran, President of the India Student chapter Mehran is a 7th-grade student who enjoys participating in a variety of sports, including soccer, tennis, and swimming. He previously attended Wangenheim Middle School in San Diego and is currently a student at Delhi World Public School in India. Through participating in school sports in both the United States and India, Mehran has been exposed to different sports environments and opportunities to learn about youth sports safety and injury prevention. These experiences have given him a broader perspective on how young athletes train, prepare, and stay safe in different school settings. As a student with experience in both countries, Mehran is interested in helping share basic ideas around safe sports participation—such as the importance of warm-ups, proper recovery, and injury awareness—with his local school and youth community in India, encouraging more young athletes to play safely and responsibly.
