SafeStrongSport Student Leadership Council

Ryan Wang
Founder
Ryan Wang, Founder of SafeStrongSport and President of the Westview High School Student Chapter, California Ryan, a nationally ranked four-star tennis player, founded SafeStrongSport after experiencing a serious injury himself. He also kept noticing injuries among the athletes around him—young people who had poured years into their sports, only to be sidelined for months, not because of bad luck, but because of a culture that told them to push through pain, never show weakness, and treat rest as failure. Damage to young kids’ bodies is irreversible. SafeStrongSport exists to ensure that winning a game never has to come at the cost of an athlete’s health.

The experience ultimately strengthened his mental toughness and reshaped his approach to training, allowing him to return to the court with greater awareness, discipline, and respect for long-term athletic health. Beyond competition, Andrew is passionate about giving back to the volleyball community. He has coached young beginners at a local volleyball school and co-organized a summer camp with friends, where he learned to adapt his teaching style to support players who struggled with drills. Through coaching, he discovered that leadership—like playing—requires patience, empathy, and a willingness to grow alongside others.
